The Lord is Good

Our God is good.  He loves us. He rewards us.  He protects us.  And contrary to what some claim his rules are for our good.  David wrote this:

The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple;  The precepts of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes; the fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever; the rules of the LORD are true, and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, even much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and drippings of the honeycomb. Moreover, by them is your servant warned; in keeping them there is great reward.  (Psalms 19:7-11 ESV)

God’s way revives us, making even the simple wise!  When we see this wisdom we have joy in our hearts.  Our eyes open the more we follow the Lord.  And we see the sweetness in the way that our loving Father has set forth for us.

There is no peace in the world.  The world is a rat race, a pressure cooker designed to drive us to distraction between its lures of false riches and its punches when we are down.  The things of this world are something we endure.  Sure, there are natural wonders and beauties of nature, we are not talking about that.  That is part of God’s creation.  The “world” is the systems of the world  where jobs are created and just as suddenly lost, where governments persecute the righteous, where just as soon as we start to feel that the world around us is safe, someone, maybe one of us, is robbed, beaten, maybe raped, or murdered or perhaps another lousy war starts as we constantly see in the newscasts that are constantly updated.  In the world, there is no true safety.

Our only true, lasting peace is in the Lord.  True joy comes in the things of God, not the things of the world.  No government plan, no plan of man will faithfully give us love, joy, and peace.

I have added more to the Praise the Lord section in the sidebar to add some “The Lord is Good”, “The Lord Protects”, and other quotes.

Original Christianity flourished because Christians realized true freedom, real love, joy, and peace through the indwelling power of the holy spirit in a world that constantly sought to persecute them.  Those same riches are available to us today as we live and focus on what the Word of God says and what Jesus Christ leads us to experience.

Our Lord is Good.  He loves and protects us.  He provides and rewards.
