Introduction

In this article that we are discussing it is important to recognize that there are a lot of things that are legal but are wrong, and perhaps, illegal that are right.  It was not illegal when Wall Street dumped insecure mortgages into pension funds years ago and many retirees lost out.  In most states adultery is not illegal. It’s not illegal to price gouge in a lot of cases. It’s legal to send 18 year-olds to war while it is illegal for them to have a beer in a lot of places.

Our concern here is whether scripture says same-sex marriage and other LGBTQ+ activities are right in God’s eyes or not.

A previous article discussed indoctrination and focused on how the Trinity and other tenets of orthodoxy are part of a massive indoctrination program within the church to accept doctrine that was not taught by the apostles. Today, we are going to talk of an indoctrination program that has crept into the church but started outside the church.

It’s Pride month in the USA, and the LGBTQ+ promotion is in full swing in the culture. LGBTQ+(Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, with plus signifying there are more distinctions than just these) is the evolutionary term for what was once mainly called Homosexuality at the beginning of the 20th century.  The term transgender first came into being in the 1960s. LGB came into being in the 1990’s.[1]

Remember, indoctrination just means presenting things uncritically. It means to present one side of an argument as something that should be obviously accepted. And the opposing viewpoint should be utterly rejected.

Remember, a major tool in indoctrination is the setting of examples because people adopt the behavior of people that that they admire and respect. Believers are told to be examples of love, faith, purity, and more. (1 Timothy 4:12-15)  But we can be examples of truth or examples of error and Scripture gives us examples of error so that we can be wary of it..

Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted. (1Co 10:6 WEB)

The world is full of examples of error. We see people totally wrapped up in consumerism, arrogance, entitlement, blind ambition, and more. The news is full of people who get angry, get guns and start shooting.  We see world leaders who invade other countries, or who sponsor missile attacks on other countries. As this article is about sexual matters from a scriptural perspective, we have the examples in the world around us where people have gotten involved with homosexuality, bisexuality, and same-sex relationships, as well as affairs, flings, one-night stands, prostitution, and more, as long as people have lived on earth.

Gay Pride attempts to indoctrinate people into accepting and perhaps even promoting and participating in all kinds of same-sex, bi-sex, queer, drag, and other immoral lifestyles.

For Christians, there is clear scriptural guidance, even in the epistles, warning people against same-sex sexual relations.  The warning in the book of Romans is shocking and dire.

For this reason, God gave them up to vile passions. For their women changed the natural function into that which is against nature. Likewise also the men, leaving the natural function of the woman, burned in their lust toward one another, men doing what is inappropriate with men, and receiving in themselves the due penalty of their error. Even as they refused to have God in their knowledge, God gave them up to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not fitting; being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, malice; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil habits, secret slanderers, backbiters, hateful to God, insolent, arrogant, boastful, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, without understanding, covenant breakers, without natural affection, unforgiving, unmerciful; who, knowing the ordinance of God, that those who practice such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but also approve of those who practice them. (Rom 1:26-32 WEB)

These verses are very hard to read. Here in these verses, we have language that makes it clear that women having sexual relations with women and men having sexual relations with men is unnatural, and the mental processes that allow one to believe that same-sex relations are okay equates in scripture to refusing to have God in your knowledge. It is part of a mindset that can lead someone to unrighteousness in many forms. Of course, that doesn’t mean that everyone who practices same-sex does all those things, but the mindset that allows for same-sex relations allows for all those other things, too.

So, from a faith perspective, Christian doctrine, and even Jewish doctrine or even Islamic doctrine for that matter all say that homosexuality and other elements of the LGTBQ+ agenda are against the core values of their faiths.
Of course, pro-gay elements in each faith claim that the faith just misunderstood these doctrines, but now they’re getting corrected.

One misunderstanding that I’ve seen explained both from the pulpit and in print is the slavery analogy. Pro-gay ministers preach that using the Scriptures to preach against same-sex marriage is a similar error to ministers using the Scriptures to endorse slavery a couple centuries ago. When the black slave trade was at its height there were Christian ministers that found verses to support the trade, starting in Genesis with the cursing of Canaan. Supposedly, to some people promoting slavery, the curse of Canaan cursed the African people to slavery. (See Why Canaan Was Cursed – A Quick Study in Biblical Interpretation for more on Canaan.)

However, that conclusion is not in the Scriptures. It is a twisting of Scripture. And it is also a twisting of Scripture to say that there is anything in the above verses that allows for same-sex relations.

The historical, traditional view of Christianity, Judaism, and Islam is that homosexual, gay, etc., lifestyles miss the mark.

But, many institutions, including the main-street media here in America, indoctrinate pro-LGTBQ+. And the people appear to respond favorably.  For example, CBS News Sunday Morning, July 9, 2024, posted a poll that said in 1985, 72% of adults said relations between adults of the same sex were always almost always wrong. Today – that figure has dropped to 28%. In 1985, 64% said they’d be upset if a child were gay or lesbian. Today that figure is 14%.

That really illustrates the “normalization” of LGBTQ+.

On the other hand, when asked if issues relating to transgender and non-binary people are a priority for elected officials – or being used to distract from more pressing matters – 77% called them a distraction.  That illustrates that at least those elements, transgenderism and non-binaryism, are not normalized as of this writing.

The indoctrination of LGBTQ+ has all the appearances of a coordinated effort.

The indoctrination can be seen on a number of fronts at the same time. For example, I have watched enough television to see the general bias in Main Street media presentations on faith and LGBTQ+. In programming that has an element of faith, where, perhaps, a church is involved, if the church is sympathetic to LGBTQ+ ideologies, then that church will often be presented sympathetically, if not heroically. And, vice versa, if the church or faith person takes a stand against LGBTQ+, they will often be presented in a bad light and even as a villain.

So, we see the development of LGBTQ+ as what the Scriptures call a stronghold.

for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but mighty before God to the throwing down of strongholds, (2Co 10:4 WEB)

Of course, physical strongholds like castles are built with strong stone upon strong stone stacked in ways to reinforce the strength of the structure.   Likewise, spiritual or mental strongholds are built with forceful ideas upon forceful ideas in the same way.

One stone, then, is the LGBTQ+ agenda itself with the concept of promoting gay pride. In a bit, we will discuss the “born gay” mantra, which is another stone in this agenda.

Another stone is the use of the term “homophobia”. When I was growing up, no one that I knew used the term homophobic. Now, it is a regular occurrence on the evening news. It appears that ABC, CBS, NBC, etc., present anyone opposing the ideology of the LBGTQ+ movement as homophobic, no matter whether it is on religious grounds or not. Now, the stars of the network news agencies casually present concepts opposing the LBGTQ+ agenda and the people who represent them as homophobic.

Of course, to Christians, Jews, and Muslims, that makes anyone who speaks against religious groups who reject LGBTQ+ because it is sinful to be Christianophobic, anti-Semitic, and Islamophobic. Now we just resorted to name-calling. which is what anybody that calls a Christian, Jew, or Muslim standing on faith and speaking against LGBTQ+ is doing.

Nevertheless, we now have a world where several elements of LGBTQ+ are normalized. Same sex marriage is the law of the land here in the US and other countries too.  Gay pride and the LGBTQ+ agenda are on TV, in the schools here, you see banners flying when you’re out and about.
I saw it the last time I exercised at the YMCA. There was a glass case devoted to Gay Pride, and the display focused on the concept of Love is Love.

Young people exposed to this indoctrination may get the mistaken idea that LGBTQ+ is innately good and should be championed because that is how indoctrination works.

On the contrary parents need to teach their children that apostles and prophets have given us the word of God in this area, that the only honorable sexual relationship in God’s eyes is a marriage between a man and a woman, and that same-sex relationships, bisexual relationships, acting queer, cross-dressing, transgender activities etc. are all against the knowledge given to us from God.

To try to simply say that love is love is a gross oversimplification and totally wrong.

People need to know that there are different kinds of love and these are taught in scripture.  There is philos, or brotherly (friendship) love. There is eros, which is sexual or erotic love.  There is agape, which is godly love. And there is storge, which is familial affection.  Brotherly love is not erotic or necessarily godly.  Sexual love is not brotherly or godly love.  We are to love Yahweh and our neighbor with godly love (agape).  We have a natural affection for our family (storge), but we also have friends (phileo).

But, in a monogamous society and scripture prescribes one, we choose a mate, one person, to have a relationship with erotic love (eros).  We very much have a choice with that one, not that we are not attracted to others, but we choose to commit to one person with that kind of love. It’s not some uncontrollable situation where the love bug bites us, and it’s out of our control, as in the heart wants what the heart wants and we can’t control it.  We can control it.

What we know can affect how much we choose to love someone.  You may find someone that you are very attracted to.  Everything looks great for a while.  But then we catch that person in a big lie.  The knowledge of that lie turns off the feelings.  Or, you just meet someone for whom you perceive the possibility of some feelings, but you find out they are married.  That knowledge, though certainly not always easy, leads us to turn away from those feelings and not pursue an (eros) relationship with that person.  You exercise control.

As Christians, we have the knowledge of God’s word in the scriptures. The scriptures give us guidance in all kinds of areas, including who to associate with in different relationships.

“Iron sharpens iron” (Proverbs 27:17) guides us to pick people who will make us stronger.

“Be not unequally yoked together with unbelievers” (2 Corinthians 6:14) tells us to pick a mate who shares our faith.

So, while eros love can be very powerful, we have the power to choose. That means saying “love is love” is not true. We may be tempted to pursue eros love with a person that is wrong for us. Instead we choose to mate with someone that is appropriate.

For one thing, scripture tells us that men are to mate with women and vice versa.  That is what the following verses tell us.

Yahweh God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep. As the man slept, he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place. Yahweh God made a woman from the rib which he had taken from the man, and brought her to the man. The man said, “This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh. She will be called ‘woman,’ because she was taken out of Man.” Therefore a man will leave his father and his mother, and will join with his wife, and they will be one flesh. (Gen 2:21-24 WEB)

Being committed to following the knowledge of God, the above verses lead us to pick a mate of the opposite sex.  And it is one person, one person in the whole world (although multiple wives were later allowed they were not the original design).  So we choose to not let erotic feelings develop with anyone that scripture doesn’t allow. That doesn’t mean the attractions to other people stop necessarily, that’s just being human.  But it does mean that we don’t act to develop any ungodly relationships.

There is No Proven Genetic Basis for Saying People are Born Gay

Another element of the coordinated indoctrination for LGBTQ+ is the scientific claim that people with these inclinations are just born that way and can’t change. The article H2 Born Gay: Scientific Fact or False Idol of Bad Science refutes that false claim. And in fact, I just “googled” “scientific proof that people are born gay” and the first response starts with, “Scientists don’t know the exact cause of sexual orientation…”   As of this writing, it is safe to say that there has never been a scientific basis for saying that people are born gay, and there isn’t much promise for it to happen down the road.

That includes the whole area of discussion around the concept of “sexual orientation”.  Do a Google search for “Scientific proof that people have a fixed sexual orientation”. The first thing that came up for me was this:

“The relationship between biology and sexual orientation is a subject of on-going research. While scientists do not know the exact cause of sexual orientation, they theorize that it is caused by a complex interplay of genetic, hormonal, and environmental influences.”[13]

Do you see the words “scientists do not know”? There is no proof that it is this innate thing that people are talking about!  Let’s just pause here for a minute and let that sink in!  Despite all the people talking about a person’s fixed sexual orientation as if it is a scientific fact it is an unproven theory!

Maybe that’s a little hard to see because of all of the stuff that follows about theories, and complex interplays of genetic, hormonal, environmental influences.   The article is about 37 pages, about 16,000 words including citations discussing various theories and hypotheses. In all of that there is no proof that a person has any kind of fixed sexual orientation .

Not only that, but the article admits that the classic case for proving a genetic basis for something is identical twins which is not there when talking about sexual orientation. If one twin is gay, then the chances are the other twin should be gay if a genetic basis where there, but in reality, there is no probability is that the other twin is gay.

The strongest argument in the article is perhaps this:

According to William Rice and colleagues, the concordance of homosexuality among twins raises the possibility that homosexuality is not caused by genes nor atypical levels of hormones, but an epigenetic mechanism controlling how sensitive fetuses are to prenatal hormones.[14]

So, we have a respected opinion that “sexual orientation” is not genetic or even hormonal, but perhaps it is something that can be influenced by the mothers hormones. “Epigenetic mechanism” refers to the flexible state of epigenetics on gene expression. The Oxford Dictionary Defines epigenetics as:

the study of changes in organisms caused by modification of gene expression rather than alteration of the genetic code itself

Epigenetic mechanisms are a system of biological processes that regulate gene expression without changing the your actual DNA.  What that is saying is that with epigenetic mechanisms, yes, the word genetics is in there, but, this is an area where genes are not the fixed absolute building blocks that people think of them as. There are elements in our DNA that can be affected to go one way or another. An epigenetic mechanism is an environmental, or other process that actually switches a gene to one state or another.

That last statement completely takes fixed out of fixed sexual orientation.

Still, the article makes the claim:

Biological theories for explaining the causes of sexual orientation are favored by scientists.[15]

This is a statement that admits that there is a group of scientists who are biased and promote something as being somewhat established when it is not.

Favored biological theories are simply opinions. It’s the same as saying, “I think that’s more reasonable”. It’s absolutely not saying that there is a clear and proven correlation between this element and that.

That is the very definition of pseudoscience.  (See Science and Pseudoscience for more.) Yet this concept that there exists this “fixed sexual orientation” is so strong in the culture, that it’s presented in a somewhat authoritative way.

If something is not genetic and fixed, then it’s fluid.  There are environmental factors, social factors. There are also choices. There is also the ideology that people are brought in to the world with. If you are brought into a society that teaches you everywhere you look that being gay, being transsexual, being non-binary, or being a drag queen are all good things then if a young child is excited by that then that “orientation” is going to grow because the child is being encouraged to do so.

Some of the claims for the “born gay” mantra focus on a study of the Xq28 gene, which has been studied since 1980. In 1993, a study by Dean Hamer et al. reported a possible correlation in this gene to increase the likelihood of same-sex preference. They did not prove a correlation; their data only suggested the possibility of one.

That study was latched onto by gay Christians seeking to prove the Bible wrong by saying God made people who couldn’t help but be gay.   But, as we shall see, they were really jumping the gun.

In 1994, the Chicago Tribune reported that Hamer selectively presented his data. The source for this article was a junior researcher in Hamer’s lab, who was dismissed from the project, although an official inquiry from the Office of Research Integrity determined that Hamer did not commit any scientific misconduct.[2]

However, further studies determined that Xq28 could not possibly have a large influence on male sexual orientation while saying that some small influence could not be ruled out. It’s important to recognize that no correlation between Xq28 and sexual orientation was established, only that some small influence could not be ruled out.

Here is a quote on the latest conclusion scientifically:

“In August 2019, a genome-wide association study of 493,001 individuals concluded that hundreds or thousands of genetic variants underlie homosexual behavior in both sexes, with 5 variants in particular being significantly associated.”[3]

That is interesting and maybe promising to some, but even if there are 5 “significantly associated” variants, there are still possibly thousands of variants.  And we will see that there are similar vague statements about the genetic makeup of proclivities to lie and cheat.

Similarly, there is a Possible Genetic Basis for People to Lie and Do Other Dishonest Behavior

While we’re on the topic of genetics and the possible genetic correlation between genetics and same-sex behavior, it needs to be noted that other studies have shown a possible correlation between lying and other dishonest behavior and genetics. A National Institute of Health article says that lying behaviors show moderate inheritability, meaning that there is some chance that if some of your relatives lie a lot, you might, too.[4]  The same goes for deception and other dishonest behaviors.

This puts us in quite a theological quagmire. If we’re supposed to say the Bible is wrong because there is possibly some correlation between genetics and same-sex behavior, then we have to say the same thing about lying and cheating. Pretty soon, the concept of a moral code has to go out the window, as well as a huge portion of Scripture being unreasonable because if people are made so that they can’t help but lie and cheat, then how can that reconcile with Scriptural command not to do those behaviors?

As seen above, the bible says we are born with sin.  We tend to engage in all kinds of wrong behavior.  Just because science can show genetic tendencies to certain behaviors does not mean that we have no choice but to say that people have to do those behaviors.   The word of God has the power to overcome those tendencies.

Churches Have Often Been Unsuccessful in Helping Christians With Same-Sex Issues

Part of the reason for some Christians advocating for acceptance of homosexuality and the acceptance of the “born gay” mantra is the poor success the churches had in helping people with LGBTQ+ “orientation” overcome their desires.  A program highly touted at first was called reparation therapy or conversion therapy. But this program had very poor results. As a result, to gay Christians this only substantiated their claims of being born gay.

The Failure of Some Ex-gay Groups and Other Therapies

Another reason given in the LGBTQ+ stronghold is what looks like the failure of ex-gay groups to be successful. Groups have come and gone. Exodus International, a major effort, was also an apparent failure, having disbanded in 2013.

However, there still are functioning ex-gay groups with people who have changed their behavior to heterosexual despite what looks like a degree of recidivism in a number of participants.

It is just a core principle of advancement in an area that to achieve something you want to do; you should find people successfully doing what you want to do.  There are people who lived the gay lifestyle, chose not to continue, and changed.

In the USA, Exodus Global Alliance is one group that functions to help with this pursuit.[5]

Gay Churches Deemphasize Scriptures that Talk About Homosexuality and Push Basic Verses on Love And Tolerance

Having listened to teaching in church that promotes the LGBTQ+ agenda I can personally attest that what I heard presented in the pulpit was to dismiss scriptural challenges that describe homosexuality as evil behavior and steer all discussion to basic concepts of love and inclusiveness while making general references to the “born gay and there’s nothing anyone can do about it” concept. I saw questions about specific verses about the sinful nature of homosexuality just referred to investigating pro-Gay theology texts, and the subject changed to generic statements about the loving nature of Christianity as well as acceptance and tolerance concepts in general. At the same time, the dire plight of Christians who are LGBTQ+ oriented is emphasized.  And the tragedy of not utilizing their leadership capacities, as well as their other talents, is highlighted.

To be sure, the pastor was quick to point out that there was no acceptance of all LGBTQ+ behaviors.  This is not an endorsement of unmarried sex, orgies and other kinds of sexual excesses.  He was presenting that same-sex marriage was endorsed for committed people in a monogamous marriage.  He said this was in line with the scriptures.

The assembly I sat in that day was admonished not to use terms like watering down the word or compromising the word, but rather to accept the concepts of inclusiveness and love as overriding principles.

This is just another stone in the stronghold that is the LGBTQ+ agenda in the churches. Steering away from the verses that warn against homosexuality is wrong, as well as the promotion to work with or even follow the leadership of someone promoting this agenda.

A Quick Look at Same-Sex Marriage Historically

This is not a new issue. Not only is homosexuality ancient, but same-sex relationships and/or marriage have ancient history.

There is a tomb for two male courtiers about 2600 B.C. that includes bas-reliefs of the “two men in intimate poses, holding hands, embracing, noses touching… These poses are strikingly more erotic than those depicting different-sex couples in Egyptian tombs.”[6]  While not conclusive, it suggests the possibility of celebrating same-sex couples in Egypt.

Egyptian same-sex relationships and other marriage variations are reasoned to be part of the context of Leviticus chapter 18.

You shall not do as they do in the land of Egypt, where you lived: and you shall not do as they do in the land of Canaan, where I am bringing you. You shall not follow their statutes. (Lev 18:3 WEB)

Verse 18 specifically talks about same-sex sexual relations.

“‘You shall not lie with a man, as with a woman. That is detestable. (Lev 18:22 WEB)

The Sifra is an midrash with interpretations of the book of Leviticus. The Sifra says of chapter eighteen in Leviticus that they were not to copy the practices of the land of Egypt nor shall you follow their laws as seen in the above verse.  These practices include:

A man would marry a man, and a woman would marry a woman, a man would marry a woman and her daughter, a woman would be married to two men.[7]

The ancient Jews were exposed to same-sex marriage in Egypt and it was banned in Leviticus.  Absolutely, same-sex sexual relationships, as well as certain other variations, were explicitly banned in Leviticus. The context where same-sex relations and other variations are banned starts with the admonition not to follow the the practices and laws of the land of Egypt.

“‘Don’t defile yourselves in any of these things: for in all these the nations which I am casting out before you were defiled. (Lev 18:24 WEB)

Leviticus 18 also talks about people sleeping with their aunts, uncles, cousins, daughters in law, mothers and daughters, neighbor’s spouses, even their very own brothers and sisters, and even animals.

Do you see the words “in all these the nations which I am casting out before you were defiled”? That is saying that all of these things that were banned in Leviticus were the practices of the nations around the people of Israel. They all had laws and practices allowing  same-sex relations, with people sleeping with their aunts, uncles, daughters in law, mothers and daughters, neighbor’s spouses, even their very own brothers and sisters, and even animals. These were all legal and sanctioned activities by the governments of those nations. We see all of LGBTQ plus activities in the culture of the world of that day as nations (plural) allowed for all kinds of sex behavior beyond God’s original design of sex confined to marriage between a man and a woman.

About same-sex unions in ancient times, Wikipedia also offers this on pederasty, which it says was a fairly widespread practice:

“Pederasty … is a sexual relationship between an adult man and a boy. It was a socially acknowledged practice in Ancient Greece and Rome and elsewhere in the world, such as Pre-Meiji Japan”[8]

While not the loving, monogamous union that pro-Gay churches are promoting, it also illustrates that ancient societies tolerated some forms of same-sex unions that for now at least are taboo in our society.

Next, we will look at some 19th-century examples to show that it has been around in recent centuries.

The Zuni are a southwest native American tribe that goes back thousands of years.  XE’WHA was a native of that tribe in the nineteenth century. He was a berdache, and as such dressed in female garb. He was revered in the Zuni circles for his spirituality, and recognized as a celebrated lhamana, a top spiritual leader. He was also married to a man.

Ifeyinwa Olinke, a rich Nigerian woman, also lived in the nineteenth century.  The business and community leaders there were women.  She was more well-known than her less prosperous male husband. She also was the husband to nine wives. That’s not a typo.

An ancient example of a same-sex Christian marriage or relationship is Sergius and Bacchus, fourth-century Roman soldiers. Bacchus died by torture from the Romans for his profession of Christian faith. The lore goes that Bacchus appeared to Sergius in a vision and told him that when Sergius died, he would be with Bacchus.[9]

The whole vision story is suspected to be ungodly because, as we read in Matthew 22:30, there is no marriage in heaven, let alone that the dead are dead until the resurrection. But the point is that people believed in same-sex Christian marriage or some similarly named relationship way back then.

The Basis of the Pride Movement

The pride movement within the church came after the pride movement started in the culture and became a political movement.  In the early 20th century, in New York City, as well as in so many other places, being other than “straight” was actually illegal, even in private. Gay people weren’t even allowed to fraternize openly, or they could be arrested.

In 1966, that was changed when gay bars were permitted in New York City, after “sip-ins” were started where gay patrons would gather and challenge bar owners not to serve them while threatening to sue. The Commission on Human Rights interceded and ruled that gay patrons had the right to be served in bars.

Gay bars began popping up. However, they were sometimes associated with the Mafia and often broke legal requirements here and there, and they would routinely be raided.  However, there were police payoffs, and bar operators could avoid serious consequences.

1969 is a landmark year in this movement. A raid happened at the Stonewall Inn, and the proprietor wasn’t tipped off. That led to rioting in the streets on June 28, 1969. While that didn’t exactly start the movement, it motivated activists to start organizations like the Gay Liberation Front, GLAAD, and PFLAG.

Certainly, these patrons had the legal right to go to those bars., and it’s easy to sympathize that they should not have been treated that way. It’s another thing to embrace and even have take pride yourself in the LGBTQ+ agenda.

As Christians we are called to be subject to the government. Romans chapter 13 tells us that we are to be subject to government ordinances. Of course, the notable exception is in the book of Acts 5:29 where the apostles disobeyed the government authority when they refused to stop speaking the truth of God’s word.

But that is not what is at play here.. Being subject to the government authorities includes honoring other citizens rights. In Paul’s time, people had the right to worship all kinds of gods and do all kinds of unscriptural  practices. The same goes for our time. The LGBTQ+ community has all the rights granted to them by the government.

Of course, we can work to change laws. But we are still guided to subject ourselves to the law of the land which includes honoring other people’s rights.

Looking back, it’s easy to sympathize that these people should not have been treated that way,  but it’s another thing to embrace and even have pride in the LGBTQ+ agenda.

One year later, on the anniversary of that riot, was the nation’s first gay pride parade.[10] And parades took place in more than one city. Since then, an increasing number of cities have seen gay pride parades and activities and activist groups working to change legislation and public perception.

The 1990s saw it spread to International LGBT pride. In 1999, President Bill Clinton designated June as Gay and Lesbian Pride Month in the USA[11].  President Trump did not make that designation for the first two years of his presidency but did after two years, the first Republican to do so.

What we have, therefore, as the basis of the gay pride movement is a political response to a corrupt political situation where citizens were mistreated. Gays and lesbians initially acted, and then more orientations were included. The result was a political movement to change the legal landscape but, more than that, to change the public perception and reception of the philosophy and thinking of the public at large toward acceptance of the LGBTQ+ ideals. This movement has been successful, as not only are LGBTQ+ patron’s rights upheld, but the LGBTQ+ agenda is apparently accepted by the majority of the population.  It’s in public school systems.

The Democratic Party has been an earlier and bigger proponent of the LGBTQ+ agenda, but it appears that the Republicans are now endorsing LGBTQ+ political idealism at greater rates.[12]

As the opening study indicated above, acceptance of gay and lesbian lifestyles has dramatically increased in just 40 years or so, from basically unapproved to approved.

Of course, it was only a matter of time before it would influence the churches, and it has.  Whole denominations have started promoting same sex marriage and other LGBTQ+ concepts.

Deliverance is Available

Nevertheless, the scriptures haven’t changed, and scripture does not approve of these lifestyles. Now, Jesus Christ and the Scriptures carry a message of deliverance from this and everything else that exalts itself against the knowledge of God. Part of that message is how difficult it is to walk with these sin-laden bodies in a wicked and perverse world and be successful, but the message has not changed.

But if what I don’t desire, that I do, I consent to the law that it is good. So now it is no more I that do it, but sin which dwells in me. For I know that in me, that is, in my flesh, dwells no good thing. For desire is present with me, but I don’t find it doing that which is good. For the good which I desire, I don’t do; but the evil which I don’t desire, that I practice. But if what I don’t desire, that I do, it is no more I that do it, but sin which dwells in me. I find then the law, that, to me, while I desire to do good, evil is present. For I delight in God’s law after the inward man, but I see a different law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity under the law of sin which is in my members. What a wretched man I am! Who will deliver me out of the body of this death? (Rom 7:16-24 WEB)

I don’t see anything in the above verse that says it’s going to be easy. The Scriptures describe our contest with the adversary as warfare, using words like struggle, contest, compete, and strive. There is nothing easy there.

Part of the struggle to overcome sin is to stop associating with people with whom you participated in that sin.

Don’t be deceived! “Evil companionships corrupt good morals.” (1Co 15:33 WEB)

If you’ve been stealing and want to stop stealing, then one thing you need to do is stop associating with people who steal. If you’ve been getting drunk and just living riotously, then you need to stop being around people who do that. If you’re living a gay or lesbian lifestyle, I’m sorry, but you need to stop hanging around with people who promote gay and lesbian lifestyles. That’s what the above Scripture is teaching.

Avoiding the Trap to Fall Back into the Lifestyle

There is a problem with all kinds of unwanted behaviors: If people aren’t careful, they can fall back into them. Jesus addressed this in the book of Matthew.

When an unclean spirit has gone out of a man, he passes through waterless places, seeking rest, and doesn’t find it. Then he says, ‘I will return into my house from which I came out,’ and when he has come back, he finds it empty, swept, and put in order. Then he goes, and takes with himself seven other spirits more evil than he is, and they enter in and dwell there. The last state of that man becomes worse than the first. Even so will it be also to this evil generation.” (Mat 12:43-45 WEB)

Jesus taught that when someone is delivered from evil, they need to be very conscientious and careful because evil can return.

The verses above ended with the question, “Who will deliver me from the body of this death?”  The next verse gives the answer:

I thank God through Jesus Christ, our Lord! So then with the mind, I myself serve God’s law, but with the flesh, the sin’s law. (Rom 7:25 WEB)

Arming Your Mind with the Renewed Mind

We must serve God with our minds to be delivered from our sinful inclinations. We are talking about the process of renewing our minds.

Therefore I urge you, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service. Don’t be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God. (Rom 12:1-2 WEB)

Those words may be easy to read, but they are often challenging and sometimes extremely challenging.  Renewing the mind means bit by bit changing your thinking to what the scriptures say.

The word of God is incredibly powerful. Yahweh says that his word is like a hammer.

“Isn’t my word like fire?” says Yahweh; “and like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces? “Therefore behold, I am against the prophets,” says Yahweh, “who each steal my words from his neighbor. (Jer 23:29-30 WEB)

The context of these words is the work of the prophet, Jeremiah. There were a lot of people telling other people what God was supposedly saying and endorsing. Jeremiah’s warning people that there are false teachers and prophets. He’s warning them to steer away from them who speak lies about what God’s word is.
The pro-gay Christian crowd is correct in saying that God never championed slavery, and that the teachers were false that said so. But  the pro-gay crowd is false also when they twist the meanings of words to say that same-sex relationships are somehow allowed in Scripture.

Don’t let people sway you from the truth of God’s word.

Remember the prize, part of the solution is to keep your eyes on the prize.  It is huge!

But, as it is written, “What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him”— (1Co 2:9 ESV)

Conclusion

There is a massive indoctrination program going on to get people to accept, support, promote, and encourage participation in lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and other “orientations” in the world today. In the USA, the whole month of June is dedicated to it.

A large portion of the world accepts international gay pride. This movement has been going on starting in the 20th century and now building in the 21st century.  It is a very old practice that has come and gone in various degrees throughout the millennia. This is just the current manifestation of this ungodly and unscriptural set of lifestyles.

Part of the indoctrination program has been to get churches to accept these lifestyles.  This indoctrination program teaches that Scripture must be wrong because people are just born that way, and there’s nothing that you can do about it, so to try to is to be cruel.

While there is no scientific literature that proves it, a common refrain for the “gay Christian” is “born gay.”  We have discussed some of the actual scientific findings and show that statements that say people are born gay are unfounded scientifically. Neither is their any scientific basis proving that people have fixed sexual orientations.

These same gay Christians say that conversion therapy and other techniques used in some churches have proven that it is wrong to try to convert somebody from an LGBTQ+ lifestyle.

These arguments are simply not true. While it may be very difficult to change your life in this area, and some people may never do it, just like the rich man couldn’t walk away from his riches (Matthew 19:22ff), it is still available.

There are people who have overcome LGBTQ+ lifestyles.   It requires a recognition of the extreme nature of the warfare in which we, as citizens of the kingdom, are engaged. It requires full commitment to Yahweh and the Scriptures in the name of Jesus Christ to renew one’s mind and pursue whatever one needs to do to stop allowing this lifestyle.  It requires associating with people who inspire and lead you to walk righteously in this area.

Little children, let no one lead you astray. He who does righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. (1Jn 3:7 WEB)

The world is indoctrinating that LGBTQ+ is healthy and good. The Scriptures warned against this behavior in Romans 1:26-32 (shown above) and in other places.

Don’t be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God. (Rom 12:2 WEB)

Don’t conform.  Renew your mind and be free of it.
